Life sometimes presents unexpected obstacles impeding my two-wheeled adventures. In the past couple of days, the morning rain and my demanding work schedule converged, causing a temporary hiatus in my renewed cycling routine.
Prior to passing out asleep on the couch on Thursday night I quickly checked the weather forecast. According to the weather guessers, the rest of the week is ostensibly going to succumb to precipitation.
The plan for this weekend was to take Red Chameleon out for two 50k rides on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately that plot was rewritten thanks to a nearby typhoon causing highly unstable weather across Tokyo. Sadly, cycling this weekend is out of the equation.
The last two days I was unable to ride for various reason, but this morning I was determined to get out on the tarmac for some exercise. I could feel my body yearning to sweat and burn some calories while taking in the fresh morning air along the Tamagawa.

Once my alarm clock started screaming at me at 4am, I slowly started to become semi cognizant of my surroundings. My eyes reluctantly peeled away from their submerged sleep state, and I heard an unusual, faint sound off in the distance. What was happening around me now?
A fresh new day dawns upon, faraway Friday finally flashing into view after a highly hectic work week. Prior to passing out asleep on the couch at 10pm I prepped my electrolytes and overnight oats in anticipation of banging out another 50k along the river.
Last night was another late work day, with meetings running through 11:30pm. Regardless of the hour I laid my head on the pillow, I was intent to ride in the morning, weather permitting. When I arose from a deep slumber at 4am, the first thing I did was peep outside. Lo and behold, no rain!
Sunday July Fourth ironically marks the fourth consecutive day of rain in Tokyo, and thus by extension, without a single revolution of Red Chameleon's crank. She, like me, has been sitting indoors anxiously awaiting the very moment we can roll out on the tarmac and get some exercise.
