Thursday I was utterly exhausted after two consecutive days of little sleep combined with an extremely busy schedule and thus Friday was a recovery day. This morning I was poised to ride at all costs, and after a good nights rest I hopped on Red Chameleon for another lovely dawn ride.

t was nice to get out on the tarmac today not only for exercise, but because it was an absolutely beautiful morning. Hopping on Red Chameleon and doing a 50k was just what the doctor ordered for the latter end of yet another hellaciously busy week.

Tokyo has been drenched with four consecutive days of morning rain, preventing me from hitting the tarmac since last week Thursday. Finally this morning I was able to hit the streets for a morning meditative ride.

I was unable to ride on Wednesday due to early morning meetings preventing me from hitting the road. Knowing I had an 8am meeting on Thursday morning, I was determined to ride, even if it meant postponing breakfast until after the early call.

Unlike yesterday, when the weather was not the most cooperative for cycling, today was absolutely intolerable. Even before departing I was suspicious of today's ride, but pressed on, hoping the strong winds outside my house were not indicative of what I would find along the river.

Post-typhoon weather is usually really beautiful. This morning was no departure; the sky was lovely shades of blue, and the sunrise was absolutely stunning. Today was the perfect day to take to just soak in all nature was offering.

The plan for this weekend was to take Red Chameleon out for two 50k rides on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately that plot was rewritten thanks to a nearby typhoon causing highly unstable weather across Tokyo. Sadly, cycling this weekend is out of the equation.

After a short two-day unexpected absence I made a return to the tarmac, feeling refreshed thanks to catching up on much needed sleep. When my alarm shook me from a deep slumber, I immediately jumped out of bed, completed pre-ride prep, and headed upstream along my normal daily cycling route.
